Some people believe that advertisement companies invented certain holidays to get more money. For example, Valentines day. A lot of people don't know that St. Valentine was a real person and this is his holiday. The advertising companies just took advantage of this piece of knowledge and what he did and used it to their advantage. It's not a hoax its a smart business move. in my opinion. It is the same with Christmas. People who don't even believe in the faith aspect of it still celebrate it. Companies take big advantage of this too. Everyone's buying presents and decorating so all of these types of businesses make themselves available during these times to gain money.
